Kim is a small-time scam artist skilled in confidence tricks and swindles. She teams up with Mathew, her new partner: a shy, naive wannabe criminal. Together they try to crack Melbourne’s seedy underbelly, but Kim’s ambition puts her up against serious competition, including Ben, her crimeboss father’s newly anointed apprentice. Mixing John Woo-style action with fast-paced comedy, Scam is a funny, subversive, violent action-comedy, shot in 2001 over 12 days on a AUD $5000 budget, then finally completed in 2020 during Covid lockdown after a fire at the editor’s house stalled the film for years.
